WRX / STI / Forester XT SS 3-inch Downpipe
We pride ourselves in the amount of technical development and research we put into our products. The goal of this product write-up is to illustrate some of the technical features of this system as well as what all goes into making the system.
Starting with the basics, our downpipe replaces the two factory catalytic converters located directly after the turbocharger. These parts are commonly called the downpipe and 3rd cat or mid-pipe cat. Our downpipe has been specifically designed for an OEM-like fit and will bolt directly to the COBB 3" SS Cat-Back, the factory cat-back, or any aftermarket system designed to bolt to the factory catalytic converter. It should also be noted that this system may not be legal for street use in some states, which is the case with ANY aftermarket exhaust that replaces ANY emissions equipment.
Our downpipe is built as one complete unit and is comprised of 4 major design elements; a Cast 304 SS Turbo Outlet Housing, 3" 304 SS Mandrel Bent Piping, an optional SS Metallic Substrate Catalytic Converter, and a laser-cut 304 SS OEM style flange with integrated flex.
Smart Service strongly suggests using new exhaust gaskets when replacing any exhaust component.
